As a special concession, students who study Architecture can currently apply for the undergraduate support package available for the degree, placement year and postgraduate diploma.
This concession is only available if you do all of the above without a break in study and the degree exempts you from part one of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) exams and the postgraduate diploma exempts you from part two of the RIBA exams.
If you decide to do two years on placement instead of one, we can not offer you any support during the second year, however, we will still treat you as not having a break in study and offer you support for the postgraduate diploma. If you choose to do an extra years placement, you must provide us with the appropriate evidence that confirms this.
In total we will provide support for six years, which includes one year while on placement. We will spread the other five years of support across the degree and postgraduate diploma. Depending on which institution you study your degree and diploma at, the length of each can vary.
If you do not undertake the postgraduate diploma immediately after your placement of one or two years, which ever applies, we generally will not be able to give you support for the postgraduate diploma. However, we will consider offering you support if the break in study was for medical or strong compassionate reasons. If this is the case, you will have to write to us with details of your circumstances and provide us with any documents you have to support your case.
