NHS Scotland National Education Services (NES) and the Scottish Government Health Directorate introduced a new Bursary Scheme in 2007-08 for students on the placement year of a degree course in both Audiology and Biomedical Science at participating universities.
SAAS are responsible for administering this scheme which will be separate to any funding we currently provide to Scottish domiciled students. There are only a limited number of bursaries available and successful students must be on a placement, be nominated for a bursary by their university and intend working for NHS Scotland after graduating.
Students will have to repay the entire bursary for that year if they withdraw from their course during the placement year.
Application forms are only available from the faculty at each university.
Audiology
A £6000 bursary is available to eligible students studying the BSc Audiology at Queen Margaret University during the clinical placement year, which is normally year three.
Biomedical Science
A £2000 bursary is available to eligible students studying the BSc Biomedical Science at the University of Abertay, Robert Gordon University, Glasgow Caledonian University and Paisley University during the placement years. The placement years are normally years three and four (years two and three for Robert Gordon University).
