The application process
- Apply to us as soon as you get a letter of acceptance from your college or university. The quickest way to apply for your support is online.
- You can download an application form or, you can collect one from your institution.
- If you are in your second or later year, you should apply to us at least six weeks before the payment is due. If you do not do this, you may not get your money on time.
- Please fill in the form correctly in CAPITAL letters using black ink. Give us all the details we ask for. Make sure you sign and date the form and send us all the documents we need. If you do not do these things, we will have to return the form to you.
- You must tell us immediately if your circumstances change (for example, if you change course, move house, get married, have a child and so on) as this may affect how much we pay you. You must tell us immediately if you change your bank details. If you do not do this, there may be a delay with your payment.
- We aim to process all fully filled-in application forms which have the necessary supporting documents, and issue an award notice, within 21 days of receiving the form. If you know your reference number you can track its progress using the on-line services on our website. Please contact us if you do not receive an award notice within 28 days.
- The award notice we send you will confirm how and when we will pay you. We will pay all of your support straight into your bank account.
